Expanded utility for your roof-rake.

We installed two solar arrays on a new metal roof last fall. The Garelick roof-rake works very well for clearing snow off of them EXCEPT for about 1/2 inch of the stuff. While this doesn't matter on most roofs, it is enough to keep solar panels from producing any electricity!

With the recent warm weather, there has been no opportunity to use the brush yet, but expect it will work very well for getting rid of the last bits of snow, as it will for bud scales, leaves, flowers and seeds in the warmer months.

It gets five stars because having it as an accessory to the rake means we do not have to have a second, very long handled tool to store.

WE COULD ALSO USE A wide LIGHT, RUBBER SQUEEGEE compatible with the rake handle for cleaning the grime off of these amazing pieces of technology while it is raining.

What do you say, Garelick? Do you already have this in the works?

There are an awful lot of people like us with new photovoltaic systems that will need squeegeeing!

This thing is just what I needed. My house happens to have an area where pine needles and leaves tend to collect on a lower roof tier, piling up right along the wooden siding of a taller part of the house. The previous residents were negligent of this and it contributed to some of the siding rotting out in that spot. I decided I wasn't having any of that again, but I'm terrified of heights and there's no way I'm going up there. So I went looking for something like this.

It's worked perfectly to clear off the debris. The extension poles assemble easily and quickly, and are light enough to just stack them up laying horizontally on some pegboard hooks.

This is just the right tool to remove the pine needles from the valleys in our roof. Not being a big fan of heights, I appreciate the ability to remove the pine needles from solid ground. Thank you!!

It DOES remove pine straw

In contrast to previous review I read, our experience with removing thick pine straw from a very high standing seam roof on historic house (can't get harder than this) was good.. We purchased the 30 foot extension pole with the roof brush because we did not want to scratch our new Acrymax roof coating that we went through heck and high water to get in order to protect our historic roof. The top of one valley's thick accumulation was about 30 feet up... Stood on heavy duty ladder to reach it and the 30 feet was more than enough. Turned brush on it's side to rake down through the heavy pile-up. Once it was "broken up" we could use the brush to pull the rest of the pine straw off the roof surface. It honestly took about 20 minutes.. a job which before had involved a very dangerous trek up a ladder and getting onto a steep inclined, slippery roof. Our roof edge is about 18 feet up.. so hard to see the whole area from just ground level. Implement is heavy if using from ground level because of the extension and necessary "droop" to be able to put some "torque" on the brush.. but wasn't a problem for an average sized, strong man. Will be standing on one roof surface to reach another alley area just above it and that should be a piece of cake with the roof brush. THANKS... this probably saved a trip to the ER and some broken bones in future years!!! Thank heaven a contractor who used your implements to remove snow in Minnesota told us about it. Pine straw is our nemesis in the Southeast.. so we need these long poles here!!

The roof brush is a great tool to get the collected leaves off the roof. It works really well. Many places you can reach from the ground. If you use a ladder, then the rake reaches about half way up on our roof.
