To start with the one positive feature (which is why I gave it 2 stars and not 1), the Snow Pro head works well to clear snow without harming the panels, but the Unger pole is incredibly frustrating! I had expected quality German engineering from a German product, but this is the antithesis of that. Loosening and tightening the extensions required Hulk-like strength. I'm a rock climber, so my hands are decently strong, and still had great difficulty. My wife used it first and said that she couldn't get the outside collar on the large end of the pole tightened and it threatened to come off. I had to bring it inside to warm it up and still couldn't tighten it until I took it all apart and held the inner thread pieces in place in order to get it to thread, because they kept sliding down out of the slots where they should sit firmly. One of them was already partially broken when I removed the collar, although it managed to hold its position when I screwed the collar back on. After extending the pole all the way and tightening it as much as possible at all joints, it still came apart at the half way point upon the first pass which required me to use my ladder and get up to the roof to retrieve it. Although this is my first roof rake, I've used other telescoping poles in the past (pole saws and such), and they worked much more smoothly. I need a pole that can be extended and retracted easily in the cold for the higher and lower panels on my roof, and this is not it. I wonder if I received a dud, or if all of them are like this. If I had paid something like $50, I wouldn't complain, but for nearly $200 with taxes and shipping, this is absolutely not worth it!

Great for my solar panels, I have used it on all my different roof grades and has been exactly what I needed to clean off my panels. I am seeing a huge difference in my solar energy this winter vs last. It should pay for itself by the end of the season!



I would recommend this to anyone with solar panels.

The head of the Snow Pro keeps falling off. This last time it slid down into the gutter and was quite difficult to retrieve.

I am using to clear off solar panels, my roof is 6/12 pitch rake works great on a ladder, heck of a great shoulder workout!!

So not really good from ground level and probably a little dangerous doing on a ladder but is doing what I need.

One other thing the pole lock if you make to tight it is quite difficult to loosen when packed with snake and your hands are freezing but I don’t feel that is a product issue.

Just an FYI.

It is a light sturdy product that does its job. Our solar panels, located on an eight foot pedestal, are cleared quickly and easily. We have no fear of scratching the glass. The pole extends and retracts smoothly. I would quickly recommend this product for solar panel snow removal.
