Roof Bum really does a nice job and I believe was gentle on the solar panels, which allowed me to regain solar power generation. Because of its foam structure, the tapered edge wears very quickly. Would be nice if there were a tougher material that was easy on the solar panel surface but did not deteriorate. In all fairness, I had accumulated a lot of snow before I received the Roof Brum. If I remove snow after just a few inches, I suspect the Brum will last the the season.

Take seems to work well on our panels

While not yet put to the use for which it was purchased, as snow has pretty much melted off the solar panels, the "Brum" was assembled to get a feel for what it may be like when it is needed and in the fully extended pole length set up.

There were immediate concerns: it is unwieldy, when the pole is fully extended.

It is not all that 'light' but that is understandable for durability and need to get up high on a roof.

It does worry me that handling it and placing it gently on the solar panels might not always work and that is a worry. We shall see.

Beyond these trial run concerns, it remains to be seen how it all goes when snow removal is needed. That may or may not happen, anymore, as winter seems to be receding and snow is melting off pretty rapidly.

Helpful, friendly people, helped determined the right length. I have used it twice on my solar panels and works as advertised on Iowa snow accumulations. As stated in other reviews, the hardware on the panels is rough on the foam head after 2 uses.

Have had a chance to use this product 3 times. It works great for what I purchased it for - namely, cleaning off my electric solar panels. It does the job and I see no reason to worry about scratching the panel surface. The head is flexible but not soft foam and seems to be very durable. The downward facing edge is a flat surface about 1.5 inches or so thick and is not good for breaking through crusty snow. However, if you remove snow right after a snowfall it seems perfectly fine. Will know more as the winter progresses.



At this point I would certainly recommend this snow rake for the cleaning of solar panels. The extension feature works smoothly but would recommend setting the head end on the ground to tighten or loosen the extension adjuster locks. Trying to unscrew the lock with the head in the air ends up turning the rod rather than the screw lock.
