I live north of Buffalo, NY. We had a wicked winter last year with no January or February thaw. I had a LOT of snow on some sections of my roof and I developed roof leaks in my kitchen, master bathroom and master bedroom despite having 50 year shingles installed in 2006 with 9 feet of Grace ice shield underneath. I HAD to get the snow off the roof over my kitchen and MBR because it was 3-4 feet deep. I tried a ladder but shoveling that much snow on my steep roof was really dangerous.. I thought about hiring roofers to get it done but there was a 2-3 week wait and it was $750+. I borrowed my neighbors Roof Rake and it worked really well. I was able to pull down 4 foot packed drifts and clear the roof completely. I pulled so much snow off the roof, I needed my Honda snow blower to clear it off the ground. I was even able to reach the first feet of the upper roof on my 2 story colonial house to free up the gutters. I really needed to get my Honda 928 snow blower on the roof but that would take a miracle due to the steep roof pitch and the fact the Honda weighs about 250 pounds and the Roof Rake eliminated all that drama. I bought my own Roof Rake at the end of last winter. The Roof Rake head is light - maybe a bit too light. I bent the blade of my neighbors roof rake up a bit and hand to hammer it back before I returned it. I didnt like the simple one sided "push pin" connections on the aluminum handle because they came apart and I got the head of the rake stuck on the roof and I had to get my ladder out to get it down. I drilled through each handle section and replaced the push pins with spring loaded clevis clinch pins that go completely through the handle and hold the section together far more securely.. I also put 1/2" aluminum angle around the perimeter of the rake blade with pop rivets to stiffen it and prevent future bending. I added about 6 ounces of weight to the head but its far more durable. Im a 61" 225 pound weight lifter so the extra weight is not an issue. The concept of the Roof Rake is solid and it works in remarkably well even in deep and hard packed snow. For 90% of the homeowners out there, the standard model they sell will be fine. I would recommend that Roof Rake make a "heavy duty" model incorporating the changes I made for hard core roof shoveling. I would have attached photos pf the changes I made but there is no way to attach photos. Ill be happy to send them along if the Roof Rake folks are interested.

Solid construction and light weight, so should do the job. Only minor gripes are that the rollers don't spin very freely and one of the extension sections didn't snap in place without a bit of filing.
